Explain the behavior of atmosphere towards infrared radiations and infrared light?

The atmosphere shows variation in behavior for different types of radiations. The sun and the stars present in our atmosphere are clearly visible to us. This is due to the visible radiations. These radiations change the behavior of the atmosphere to transparent.

But our atmosphere has the ability to reflect the infrared radiations. So, these radiations are stopped by the atmosphere. As the heat coming from the sun heat up the earth, the earth starts emitting the radiations. The temperature of the sun is extremely high as compared to the temperature of the earth after heating up. So, the radiations that the earth emits after absorbing heat are the infrared radiations. These radiations can be called as heat radiations. Infrared radiations can be easily absorbed by the objects. So, the objects which come into the path of the infrared rays also absorb some heat radiations. The clouds which are present at a tolerable height over the earth’s surface also stop the infrared radiations generated by earth. So, these rays also help in keeping the earth warm. This process of warming earth is known as Green House Effect.
