Explain the termites and ticks of arthropoda which belongs to non chordate phyla?

The termites are also known as the white ants. They occur in the tropical and temperate areas. They form the nests on trees and grounds. These nests are referred as termitaria. They occur in colonies and have different form and shapes. They are social insects which feed on living and dead parts of organisms. They even feed on the dead bodies of their counterparts. In termites there occurs an exchange of food between one insect and the other. This is referred as tropholaxis. They do not fly. In the breeding season the male and female species swarm together and are referred as nuptial flight. Each of them lose their wing and make a small burrow known as the nuptial chamber. In this females form large number of eggs. They have many forms like fertile and sterile. The sterile form includes males and females. They do not have wings and their reproductive organs are non functional. So, they cannot reproduce and includes workers, soldiers and nasutes. The workers do everything except reproduction. The soldiers perform the protective function. The nasutes have the opening of frontal gland. They secrete a sticky solution which is used in the warfare. It also dissolves the hard substances. They mainly feed on cellulose which is present in plants and books. So they destroy books and plants. They themselves also act as a food source for the variety of animals.
