Explain The Life Cycle Of Plasmodium In Female Anopheles Mosquito?

Female mosquito sucks the blood of infected human being. It gets red blood cells containing different stages of erythrocytic cycle. The female mosquito digests all stages of erythrocytic cycle excluding gametocytes. The process of formation of gametes is referred as gametogony. Gametocytes form gametes. The nucleus of male gametocyte forms 6 to 8 nuclei. The cytoplasm surrounds these nuclei. The nucleus, cytoplasmic mass from male gametocyte forms male gamete. This male gamete attaches to female gamete and leads to formation of zygote. This process is also known as syngamy. It is of anisogamous type. Zygote enlarges and forms motile organism known as Ookinete. The ookinete goes inside the stomach of female mosquito. Here the zygote becomes immobile and forms a cyst. This encysted zygote is called as oocyst and this cyst wall is secreted by zygote along with stomach of female mosquito. Later on after fertilization around 500 oocysts appear in the stomach of female mosquito. The nucleus of oocyst goes through meiosis and mitosis. Meiosis is followed by mitosis. It leads to formation of number of nuclei. The cytoplasm, nuclei and spindle shape structure combination is known as sporozoite. Oocyst breaks and release sporozoite. They are mobile and move to the different organs of the body. Most of them aggregate in the salivary gland of female mosquito.
